Both the homegrown 200cc two-wheelers belong to the fully-faired or sports bike segment, which is usually engineered for racing purposes. Speaking of performance, the Xtreme 200S is Hero MotoCorp’s most powerful bike, while the RTR 200 4V is TVS’ second-most powerful bike after the Apache RR310.

As you may know, , especially the Apache series are usually track-focused. The TVS RR model is a fully-faired bike, while the TVS RTR model is a naked bike.

But, in this comparison, both bikes are quite different from each other, as far as the looks are concerned. However, they are similar in terms of features and specifications. So, let’s see how these two 200cc bikes stack up against each other.

 

Specifications

Before jumping straight to the figures, let’s talk about the underpinnings of these two offerings. Like other Hero bikes, the flagship model produced by the Hero company, the Xtreme 200S 4V is structured on a diamond chassis.

On the other hand, the draws its power from a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine, which is tuned to produce 20.54 bhp at 9000 rpm and 17/25 Nm of peak torque at 7250 rpm. It makes the rear wheel spin via a standard five-speed manual transmission. The RTR 200 4V has a top speed of 127 km/h.

 

The clutch type of this bike is superior to its Hero counterpart, as it gets an assist and a slipper clutch. Both bikes have a wet multiplate clutch in common, though.

Apart from that, the has a fuel tank capacity of 12.8 litres, while the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres.

Keeping their engine outputs aside, let’s now talk about other technical specifications of these two offerings- the brake and suspension setups.

As far as braking duties are concerned, both homegrown offerings are equipped with a dual-disc brake setup. And for added safety, both have a single-channel ABS but the top-most variant of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has a dual-channel ABS. In terms of suspension setups, the Hero Xtreme 200S 4V stands on a 37mm telescopic fork with an anti-friction brush at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. On the other hand, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V stands on a first-in-segment preload adjustable Showa telescopic fork at the front and a Showa monoshock suspension at the rear.

As for the tyre profiles, the Hero Xtreme 200S 4V has a tyre profile of 100/80 R17 and 130/70 R17 at the front and rear, respectively. At the same time, the tyre profile of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has a tyre profile of 90/90 R17 and 130/70 R17 at the front and rear, respectively.

 

Features

In terms of features, both bikes have more or less the number of features. These two 200cc indigenous offerings are equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster that shows relevant readings of a speedometer, an odometer, a fuel gauge, a tachometer, and the distance made. Apart from that, both have a low fuel indicator, a low battery indicator, a digital clock, and mobile app connectivity. They also have a gera shift light, a pass light, GPS and navigation, a killswitch, and a kick and an electric start.

As for lighting, both have LED DRLs, a LED headlight, a LED brake light, and a LED tail light. The Xtreme 200S 4V has LED indicator lights, while the Apache RTR 200 4V has halogen indicator lights.

Furthermore, the Xtreme 200S has an additional service reminder indicator, while the Apache RTR 200 4V has a Glide Through Technology, Crash Alert System, Wave Bite Key, and Race Derived O3C engine. Considering the Apache RTR 200 price, it has a good number of additional features.

The Hero company offers the Xtreme 200S 4V in one variant only and has three colour options.
