The indigenous two-wheeler manufacturer gave some major cosmetic revamps to the fourth version (4V) of the Xtreme 160R. Having said that, it looks brawny than before and gives an upmarket presence. Apart from that, it also boasts more features.

As mentioned earlier, the company claims that this BS6 Phase 2-compliant bike is the most powerful bike in the segment. The domestic company built the Xtreme 160R 4V by using the tubular underbone diamond-type frame, which is known for being robust plus it makes the bike more agile. Furthermore, this chassis holds a 163.2cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine, which is tuned to churn out 16.6 bhp at 8500 rpm and 14.6 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. This engine makes the rear wheel spin of this bike via a standard five-speed manual transmission. As per the company, it is also the first bike in the segment to have an oil-cooling .

The stores its fuel in its 12-litre fuel tank. That capacity is pretty decent for a 160cc bike and for the one that weighs 5 kg more than the 2V, making it 144 kg.

Further, it has a top speed of 115 km/h. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is neither tested by ARAI nor has received any feedback from the owners.

More on specifications, the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V has different suspension setups, depending on the variant. Unlike the top-most variant, the lower variants have a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a seven-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. The rear suspension setup is standard across the variants, though. However, the top-most variant has a different front suspension setup, which is more performance-oriented. But, it is worth noting that both types of suspension setups will do the job of giving comfort and performance-oriented rideability. With the adjustable rear suspension, the rider can manually adjust the stiffness and softness of the rear suspension, especially according to the road condition. However, these homegrown two-wheelers are engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind. So, this bike shouldn’t let you lament the ride quality it has to offer.

Moreover, for added safety, this homegrown 160cc bike has a single-channel ABS, which is standard across the variants. The size of the front disc brake is rated at 276mm, while the size of the rear disc brake is rated at 220mm. Further, the Xtreme 160R 4V runs on standard 17-inch alloy wheels with a standard tyre profile of 100/80 R17 and 130/70 R17 at the front and rear, respectively.

This bike is feature-loaded. Even the base variant shouldn’t let the buyer complain about the offerings. That said, it has a fully digital instrument cluster, which shows relevant readings, such as speed, RPM, distance made, range, and time. It also has a digital fuel gauge, a low oil indicator, and a low fuel indicator. This bike also boasts a side stand alarm, automatic headlights-on feature, a pass light, and LED lights (front, rear and indicators). The electric start is standard as well.

Further, it is worth noting that the mid variant boasts connected bike technology, while the top-most variant boasts everything including the KYB-sourced front suspension. The connected bike technology can let the owner access the vehicle’s status, live location, last parked, speed, and upcoming service(s), to name a few.

However, this Hero bikes misses out on a USB charging port. But given all the new-age features and upmarket looks, this bike justifies the price.

The Hero company sells the Xtreme 160R 4V in three variants. As for the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V’s price, it starts at Rs 1.27 lakh for the base variant, the standard (STD), and goes up to Rs 1.36 lakh for the top variant, the Pro.
